Freelance Writing 101
If you'd like to learn how to become a freelance writer—or a more successful one!—this two-hour workshop is for you. Taught by full-time freelance writer Jillian Kramer—who's written for Glamour, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, SELF, Martha Stewart, EatingWell, the Wall Street Journal, and many more—we'll cover the following topics: How to find ideas—and how to turn those ideas into pitches. How to write a compelling pitch that will get an editor's attention. How to find contact information for editors, and how to approach them. How to turn in articles your editor will love. How to earn (and handle) money as a freelancer. And what you need to know if you're not a trained journalist. (The good news is: Everyone can be a freelance writer!) Plus, you'll leave the workshop with a binder packed with additonal information, tips, and tricks. We're also saving time in the workshop to talk over your article ideas. When you come to the workshop, bring an idea you'd love to pitch. At the end of class, we'll talk about how to write the pitch and what publications to target. The workshop is being held on two dates: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 (we're leaving time for a half-hour break for dinner) 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 The workshops will be identical on both dates, so simply buy a ticket for the one that works best for your schedule! Refund policy: Refunds will be offered up to seven (7) days before the date of the workshop.
